Drones are changing the practice of law. The Federal Aviation Administration Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 authorized the FAA to issue licenses for limited commercial drone use. As a result, drones are new resource to lawyers and accident investigators.
Incidents often occur in places that are largely inaccessible. Consider falls that occur at construction sites or from high places. Drones can access remote locations safely without the use of scaffolding or cranes. Equipped with remotely controlled cameras, they can see into hard-to-reach places without risking any injury to people. They can engage in a close inspection of the condition of property and its immediate and general surroundings in a way not otherwise feasible – and at the fraction of the cost.
